My Days of Fun I spent
many years involved in the Drum and Bugle Corps movement, I have made many friends all around the world over the years through Drum Corps, both from my days marching and teaching, but probably had the most fun doing the Knights reunion concert a couple of years ago. There's something strangely gratifying about seeing all the guys you taught when they were literally 'knee high to a grasshopper', and realising half of them went on to march with some of the best corps in the world. Undoubtedly my favourite corps of all though would have to be The Concord Blue Devils. We first toured with them back in 1981 and were made to feel like part of the 'crew' by Jerry Seawright and the other staff. It was great to see Jerry again at D.C.I. '99, and we had a good time at one of the functions reminiscing over the 'good old days'. Phil Knight , my best friend, ended up marrying Cathy Carlson from the Devils, and we still wind her up incredibly over the fact that they never won D.C.I. when we toured with them (something that Trish has never forgiven us for). For those people out there who know nothing about the Drum Corps movement I have added a link to the Blue Devils on the page, with more on the links page which you can get to via the button at athe top of the page. Undoubtedly though, to really appreciate it you have to experience Drum Corps 'live'. If ever you get the chance to go to a show, then do......believe me you won't regret it !!!
